Band on the Rise: What are the marks of a band that can actually break out of a local scene? It’s gotta be good, honest, original and able to touch some mysterious cultural nerve — and it’s gotta be lucky. There’s just so much going on out in the music world that lightning must strike to really set a band on fire. Well, we wish The Band June (www.thebandjune.com) good luck and a bolt of lightning, because they’ve got the other qualities in spades. Based in Bow where singer, songwriter and guitarist Mechelle Zydenbos lives, the band tours widely and even made an appearance this year at NYC’s famous CBGBs. Like the farmer says, there’s no better way to get struck by lightning than to be outstanding in your field.

that's pretty cool. when did meche change her name to zydenbox? sounds like a strange accordian like instrument from deep in the bush. wait, too many unintended puns on the female anatomy for me....
